Clinical Analysis of Delayed Traumatic Intracerebral Hematoma

Abstract
The authers have analyzed 22 patients with delayed traumatic intracerebral hematoma(DTICH) who had been managed in our hospital for 3 year from January 1989 to December 1991.
1) Sex incidence showed that male patients were 19 cases(86.5%) and most commonly affected age group was that 4th decade.
2) The most common cause of injury was traffic accidents(36.4%).
3) The most common developing site of DTICH was frontal region(81.5%) and the interval from injury to diagnosis of DTIDH by brain CT was the most common within 48 hours(63.7%).
4) The interval mental change at diagnosis of DTICH was present in 16 cases(72.7%) and the 12 cases(54.5%) showed linear skull fractures.
5) The most common initial CT findings was focal cerebral contusion.
6) Six cases were conservative treatment and sixteen cases(72.7%) were performed operation for removal of hematoma and favorable outcome were 15 cases(68.2%) and death were 2 cases (9.1%).
